eDay aims to clean up Invercargill's e-waste  | Release September 24 2008
Invercargill residents can dispose of their old PCs, computer peripherals and mobile phones at eDay on Saturday 4 October.  eDay, is a free computer recycling event being held in 32 centres throughout New Zealand, is expected to divert 1,000 tonnes of potentially toxic waste from landfills.


WasteNet launches new website | Released 1 August 2008
WasteNet Southlands new look website was officially launched today.  The site not only has a fresh new look but new features as well - waste news bites from around the world, back catelogue of Busting Waste articles, downloads and simply daily tips to reduce waste.



Over half of Southland's waste stream could be diverted

Research undertaken last year indicates that over half of the waste sent to landfill could have been diverted and beneficially used.  Over 40 percent of Southlands waste is made up of compostable materials - garden and kitchen waste.
