'Kaitiaki Maori'
Secondary Schools 'Maori Gods' Wearable Arts Festival
7.30pm Friday September 12, 2008 at Civic Theatre (Inv)
The Invercargill YMCA Raise up and Represent Youth Crew, a crew of ten enthusiastic young people have been coming together once a week to plan and implement youth focused workshops, activities and large events since 2006.
The aim of this group is to find the needs of other young people and then provide safe healthy environments in which they can relax and socialise. For Keep New Zealand Beautiful Week, which runs from the 5th –12th of September, The Youth Crew will be running an Environmentally focused fashion show.
This event is for 13-18 year olds to enter and will be run at the Civic Theatre on Friday the 12th September at 7.30pm. “This is a great opportunity to have an affordable event that gets people thinking about how to respect the environments in which we live in,” Saskia the Youth Development Manager said.
Young people are encouraged to enter a creation in this amazing event and entry forms are available from the YMCA on Tay St. The theme for this event is ‘Kaitiaki Maori’ and entries need to make their creation out of recyclable materials. There will be great prizes and performances; tickets are going to be available from the ICC booking office.
