You can reduce the need to purchase CD's and DVD's by

  • Your public library not only stocks books to borrow, they also have great range of CD's and DVD's for loan  
  • Share or swap CD's and DVD's with friends and neighbours or start a local CD/DVD swapping club
  • Visit your local video rental store and rent DVD's
  • Download from an online music store

Reuse

Here are a few suggestions on what else you can do with CD's and DVD's

  • Make a reflective model for your child's bedroom
  • Reflective bird scarer
  • Cover with felt and use as a coaster
  • Create a shiny wind-chind
  • The plastic cover (jewel case) makes a great small picture frame.  Simply remove the original paper insert and place in your own picture or design
  • Make them into a clock, simply purchase a clock kit (mechanism) from a local craft store and glue onto the CDs
  • Candle coaster - it will make a wonderful reflection

Disposal

If you are unable to reduce or reuse your CD or DVD, the next best practical option is disposal to the regional landfill through your local rubbish collection.
