Agrecovery Wrap Recycling

Wrap left lying around on-farm is a potential hazard and contaminates your water ways, stock and farm.

Over 320,000km of wrap is used every year in New Zealand.  Most of this is disposed of by burning or dumping causing significant environmental damage. Recycling provides a better environmental outcome than either dumping or burning.

Agrecovery Wrap Recycling is a sustainable solution for the disposal of silage wrap and pit cover.  For the small cost of $1 per bale you can protect your farm and the environment.

How it works

The process is simple.  Purchase the Agrecovery Wrap recycling bags from selected retailers.  As farmers feed out, they separate the wrap from the bale and dispose of the netting (sorry this cannot be recycled), then:

  • Shake free any organic matter and water from the peeled wrap
  • Roll the wrap up tightly
  • Stuff the shaken and rolled wrap into the Wrap recycling bag

Agrecovery will collect the full bags from designated collection points.

What does it really cost?

One packet of Wrap recycling bags costs $67.50 (incl. GST) and contains five large bags, enough to recycle approximately 60 round bales in total - thats about $1 per bale.  There are no hidden costs. All costs, including collection and disposal are contained within the bag price.

Farmers can purchase packets of Agrecovery Wrap recycling bags from participating retailers, vets and balage contractors or direct from Agrecovery (online at www.agrecovery.co.nz or by calling freephone 0800 AGRECOVERY - 0800 247 326).
