Clean Up Southland will take place over the week of 17-24 September. This campaign brings together community groups, businesses, schools, local Councils and individuals in a range of activities and events to raise public awareness of littering and the impact of rubbish on our environment.
Signing up or joining a Clean Up event has never been easier thanks to the kind folks at the Keep New Zealand Beautiful Trust. The Trust has recieved sponsorship from New World and Four Square, and is able to offer FREE resources to groups who sign up or join up with them for a clean up in their local area.
Once you have registered a clean up, the Trust will send you the resources (bags, gloves, certificates for participants, evaluation form). Apply for Free Disposal
This is the first year that WasteNet Southland is offering groups the opportunity to apply for free rubbish disposal for registered clean up events. The purpose of this funding is to support groups who have registered their clean up event with Keep New Zealand Beautiful Trust, by helping to pay the disposal costs for the rubbish collected.
Applications close on Friday 24 September 2010. Please note the clean up event must take place before 30 June 2011 (and applications will be declined for clean ups that have already taken place). Applicants will need to provide an estimated weight of the rubbish they expect to collected.
Successfull applicants will need to provide a formal receipt of the rubbish disposed of and a brief report on how the clean up went, before the funding will be awarded.
