Ocean Beach, Bluff Clean Up - 4 September 2010

The Bluff Hill/Motupohue Environment Trust have organised a clean up along Ocean Beach, Bluff on Saturday 4 September 2010.   If you would like to join this clean up, simply arrive on the day.  The group are meeting at the old Ocean Beach Freezing Works carpark at 9:30am.  Bring sturdy footwear (probably gumboots), some lunch and warm clothes.  The Trust are providing the coal and oyster sacks.

The plan is to head west from Ocean Beach to Shag Point, then return with the rubbish, and have lunch back at the carpark.  Then for people who are keen to continue we'll go through private land with truck and trailer and work back toward Shag Point.

Sandy Point Clean Up - 18 September 2010

The Invercargill Environment Centre and the Invercargill Sunrise Rotary Club are organising a community clean up of Sandy Point area.

Sandy Point is a great local area that so many of us enjoy using - so lets give a little something back by rolling up our sleeves, putting on gloves and cleaning up some of the rubbish that has been left behind.  The plan is to make our Clean Up even cleaner by giving out separate bags for rubbish and recyclables.  The recyclables will then be sorted and dropped off at the local recycling depot, minimising the amount of waste going to landfill.

Come on ... Join us ... As the old saying goes "Many hands makes light work"

Contact the Invercargill Environment Centre on (03) 218 4404 or email iec@paradise.net.nz if you'd like to join the Sandy Point Clean up which starts at 10:30 am
