Clean Up Southland
Tonnes of rubbish ends up in our regions rivers and streams, parks and reserves, on beaches and in our coastal waters every year. Clean Up Southland is an annual campaign to raise awareness of the impact of littering and rubbish on our environment and encourage people to participate in a local lean up.
Clean Up Southland campaign started in the 1990's when local Councils signed up as partners to Clean Up the World. Over a decade later, Clean Up Southland held in conjunction with Keep New Zealand Beautiful Week, mobilises an estimated 1,000 volunteers from throughout Southland to get out and clean up, fix up and conserve our environment.
Here are examples of Southlanders getting out their and cleaning up our big backyard.
